Arshad received his medical degree from the Khyber Medical University in 1992. Following graduation, he gained experience working in hospitals Overseas, Melbourne, Adelaide and rural NSW.

He completed his fellowship in General Practice in 2007  and has since been working  as GP  in Melbourne .
